Singing & Self Harm
Why is it so difficult to be yourself when you sing in front of others?
Why is it so frightening to actually be your full self, your light ramped up to its maximum wattage?
Why is it so terrifying to be your total, unadulterated and undiluted authentic self?
This is why...
FOR THE FEAR THAT YOU STILL WON’T BE ENOUGH.
FOR THE FEAR THAT YOU WILL STILL BE UNACCEPTABLE AS YOU ARE.
FOR THE FEAR THAT IN ALL YOUR POWER, GLORY, FABULOUSNESS AND SHIMMER THEY WILL STILL REJECT YOU.
But here’s the truth…
To keep your light hidden from the world is self-harm.
To keep your light hidden from the world is harm to others.
To keep your light hidden from the world is painful to your heart and to theirs…
For your light is your joy and your joy is your fuel for singing as if every time was the first time filled with wonder, magic and unfettered innocence.
And for you, my friend, doesn’t singing light you up in ways that few other things do? Doesn’t it flick that switch of joy on within you?
We must stop switching on our light and our joy only to switch it right back off through fear…
So Much Love
